My Lover and I.

 By Mea Cohen.

“My lover climbs on top of me, rocks into me, comes into me, leaves.”

Artwork by Reilly Stasienko.

My lover and I cross no bridges, too dangerous, too volatile, you see. My lover climbs on top of me, rocks into me, comes into me, leaves. I take a pen and write his name, over and over and over again. My lover taps a syringe, pricks his arm, shoots himself into another dimension. My lover drools on my shoulder, and I let him. He wakes, and tells me, Write my name, over and over again, never stop, and I’ll never be gone. I trace my lover’s name over the needle marks on his arm.
